About the Play

Monroe County Civic Theater presents its 75th production -- Much Ado About Nothing. As part of the annual Shakespeare In The Park series, Much Ado presents the struggle of two contrasting groups of lovers. The rapier witted Beatrice and Benedick, both wary of the notion of love, find their war of words brought to a merry truce when friends concoct a scheme to bring them together at last. Meanwhile, the lovestruck Claudio and Hero find their storybook romance dealt a near fatal blow by the nefarious Don John and his minions. Luckily, the hilarious Constable Dogberry and his bumbling Night Watch stumble onto the evil plot and deliver their own brand of comedic justice. The play showcases Shakespeare's exuberant wit, masterful prose, and side-splitting comedy with its rich undercurrents exploring human nature.

Director's Note

Maria Eagleton

I would like to thank Parks and Rec and University Publishing Co. for their service and support for this MCCT production. Thanks also to Chris Ramsey and King Snake Sound Company for the loan of lighting equipment. A special thanks to David Michel and Ben Ellis for stepping in at the very very last minute to fill two very important roles. Stan Gebrig and Domingo Prud'homme deserve much applause for their technical support. Also, my cast deserves the deepest heartfelt thanks for their above and beyond the call of duty assistance. Without their efforts this show wouldn't be going up. For that, and their stunning acting, they deserve a standing ovation.
