What kind of shows does MCCT put on?
We have presented plays from many time periods ranging from Greek and Medieval plays to modern times. These include plays by Euripides, Shakespeare, Moline, Racine, Tom Taylor, Gilbert and Sullivan, Checkov, Shaw, Wilde, Ibsen, Coward, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, and Sondheim, as well as Medieval farces and Japanese kyogen.
Perhaps our best-known productions, however, come from our Shakespeare in the Park series. We began this in August 1990 with a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream performed at Harmony School's outdoor stage. The series moved to the Third Street Park outdoor stage in 1992, and we have performed two plays by Shakespeare every summer since. In 2008, our June production will be The Tempest, and our September production will be The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
We are also proud to be able to give new directors and playwrights a chance to practice their crafts. In 1996 we began our New Directors' Symposium series. Each year we feature around three or four short plays; in recent years, these have been locally written and directed by their authors. Please see our history page for more information on the New Directors' Symposium.
You can see a list of every production in our history by going to the Completed Works.

Where does MCCT perform?
We do not own a building in which to perform. Therefore, we perform at a variety of venues around Bloomington. Currently, we are most often in the Rose Firebay at the John Waldron Arts Center or on the outdoor stage at Third Street park. We have also performed at the Bloomington Playwrights Project, Monroe County Public Library, Second Story, Rhino's All Ages Club, the Monroe County Fall Festival, Bryan Park, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, and various schools in Bloomington.
You can find information about our most common venues and directions to them on our Venues page.

Can I be involved without being onstage?
Yes! Actors are only one part of a production. There are many other things to be done, such as directing, stage work, stage management, set design and construction, costume design and production, lighting, sound, and publicity. We also welcome local playwrights to submit their work as a possible addition to our season or as a part of the New Directors' Symposium. To get involved, e-mail us at info@mcct.org or contact us by phone or postal mail as listed above. We are always happy to have volunteers.
