Webmaster’s Report
In September, we had 7,972 hits, which is low but not bad. In October we had 11,041 hits.
Old/Current Business
Frankenstein
The Spencer performance of Frankenstein went very well, with a packed house and over $210 income from the show (between the library’s donation and begging). In fact, the show was so packed that the Spencer performance of Christmas Carol has been moved to the elementary school to accommodate the larger audience. Russ highly suggests doing Sleeping Beauty out there as he feels it would be very successful.
The Irish Lion performances were not quite so successful the first weekend (one was up against the World Series), but did very well the second weekend (being Halloween weekend, and having had the benefit of publicity in the H-T).
A Christmas Carol
Auditions have gone very well. Russ thanked Julian for sending some musical talent to auditions. Music rehearsals are going excellently. The Lion has already asked for the posters, and is open to having more shows from us there.
Sleeping Beauty
Russ offered to work up posters for Janice. Auditions are in three weeks. Janice would like for someone to help her out with auditions.
World Arts
World Arts in Spencer has donated enough in posters that they need to be listed as a top level sponsor. They will need paperwork from us to be able to write the donation off as an advertising expense.
Upcoming/New Business
T-Shirts
We are completely sold out of XXL Uncle Will shirts and have ordered 10 more at the same price as before.
Allen Pease
Since the last meeting, Allen has been hospitalized and had multiple bypass surgery. He is now at home recovering and is doing well, but is not expected to be able to work again for at least a couple of months. Due to this, Allen and Phil are not going to the Festival Association conference. Phil will be working on some of the cover letters Allen was writing to sponsors.
Parks and Recreation
Parks and Rec has expressed monetary concerns about Shakespeare in the Park and wanted to cut us down to one play per summer. Frank and Rance have met with them and compromised by agreeing to move the second play to late September (allowing Parks and Rec to rent the stage out during a prime rental time) and also to forego the $250 sponsorship. Parks and Rec agreed not to make us pay for their tech. (This compromise is subject to the approval of the board, which was granted, and the City.)
Venues
We need to check on BAAC prices now that their setup has changed and make sure that we can still afford their rates for the Directors’ Symposium and Hadrian. If not, returning to the BPP is a possibility as well. The Lion was also suggested, but there were concerns especially about the feasibility of doing the Symposium there. (An alternate idea was to do a different one-act play each night for variety.) The improv group might be a good idea at the Lion, though.
Next Meeting
The first and second Tuesdays of December both conflict with performances of A Christmas Carol (in which at least half the board is involved), so the meeting was moved to the second Wednesday of the month.
Meeting Adjourned
Tim moves to close the meeting, Rance seconds, ayes unanimous.
