Old/Current Business
Pericles
Pericles had a good run, other than the fact that there were some weather problems that persisted over the couple of production weekends. Janice noted that the audience was a little bit different from the norm, willing to sit in the rain and watch rather than simply go home. A member of the cast noted that the cast and crew were rather young this time so it was occasionally hard for Janice to keep a good “grip” on everybody, but everything came out fine. Frank reported that Parks and Recreations were pleased with the performances and were also pleased that we obviously have a dedicated audience. Janice finishes up that she was very happy to have her two assistant directors and that she felt she couldn’t have done it without them.
Oliver Crumb
Russ reports that while this show was more strenuous than the past ones done at the Lion (due primarily to the ambitious steps that he took to bring more of a stage presence to the Lion) the show went really well. Each show had at least a decent audience and using the space out at the Hilltop Restaurant in Spencer worked out quite well (in regards to both ambiance and acoustics).
Hadrian the Seventh
Hadrian is going well and Rance expects that they will be able to perform full runs during rehearsals next week. Props, sets, and the like are either already lined up or in production; the only thing that is currently running behind is costumes. Rance admits that the delay in costumes is partly his fault, as he didn’t realize how much effort goes into creating a single priest’s cassock, but as he has two people working on the sewing he is confidant that he should have the outfits that he needs by tech week. Due to crowding concerns on the stage, Rance has decided to only go with 5 cardinals rather than the full compliment of 9. Rance is very pleased with the cast, including a newcomer to MCCT by the name of Casey Snyder, and anticipates a good show.
Dracula
Russ ended up having to go into three total days of auditions, but not because of usual reason. This time it was simply because they had so many people they needed the third day to narrow the candidates down. Russ has been talking with people from WFIU and NPR and will be going to meet them soon to discuss a possible 10 minute spot where they can talk about the upcoming show. He is also going to try and get ahold of the manager of WFHB to possibly get a radio spot there. Russ has succeeded in cutting out around 2000 words from the original script, but due to the size of the script there could still be more to go. The webmaster took down the dates for the show and they will be posted on our website.
Extremities
Extremities has been cancelled for the moment due to issues amongst the cast. Rhianna has expressed that they would still like to do the play but they don’t have a date set at this time.
The Beggar’s Opera
The Beggar’s Opera has also been cancelled for the moment due to the lack of a sufficient director. Due to the demands of the show, the current plan is that the show will be rescheduled after a suitable director is found.
New/Upcoming Business
Social Circles
Ben would still like to do his show in March as part of the Lion series. He can put the show on with around 6-8 people and costumes and set would be minimal.
Wizard of Oz
Phil would like to bring the Wizard of Oz to the Lion and will be working on the details over the coming months. Phil hopes to bring a complete proposal to the board for the play soon.
A Christmas Carol
Frank and Rance are currently talking to a possible director for the show who is currently looking over the script. If the possible director accepts he has already indicated that he would like help finding a cast.
Meeting Adjourned
Tim moves to close the meeting, Rance seconds, ayes unanimous.
