Webmaster’s Report
In February we had yet another record month on the Website with 14,857 hits.
Sleeping Beauty
Janice says she thinks it was a great show and Jim Hettmer was a big help with all sorts of aspects of the play (including filling in for the Emperor when the actor was ill). There was a “happy buzz” after each performance with audience members coming down to talk to the actors. The Spencer show was the first theatrical performance in the high school’s new auditorium and Janice estimates that 200 people attended. There were many young children in the audience. Janice thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Rhianna added that it was a lot of fun from an actor’s perspective too.
Babbling Banshee
The Banshee posters have been printed. The play is going well, with the actors almost off-book. Russ and Freddie met with the Lion, the library and O’Brien’s and figured out how to do the play in each space. Posters will probably be the only expense. Russ clarified that the story is not directly about the naming of the Irish Lion, but does incorporate some of the restaurant’s history. The Lion and the library have given us more coverage for this show than they have for previous shows.
World Arts
World Arts unfortunately will not be able to continue doing color posters for us for free, although they could do black and white posters for free. Color posters could be made available if we did two shows’ worth at once and paid half of the fee ($200). This would give us some in-kind donation that we could use for grantwriting. Dennis from the Irish Lion suggested that we look into doing some sort of insert for future Lion shows, which Russ is going to look into doing through World Arts.
Director’s Symposium XI
Things seem to be coming together. Talking is fully cast; Roman Bath is missing a Jesus; Ethel’s Dinner Party is also still looking for Gertrude. Russ needs some information from Tim and the directors for press releases and posters and such. We will have four days of tech rehearsal.
Extremeties
Rhianna and Rhea presented an official proposal for “Extremeties”, which the Board heard about briefly last month. There will not be a lot of need for props and such. The cast is mostly set except for one role. They were thinking of a weekend in April. A director has not been chosen yet. Royalties are through Samuel French. The Firebay and O’Brien’s were suggested as possible venues. Rance moved to approve the show pending finding space for it, Tim seconded, ayes unanimous.
Filling Allen’s Position Position
We need a fundraising/promotional person. Frank suggested advertising a volunteer position and checking with the Kelly School of Business. It is in our best interest to eventually offer this person payment for services rendered. At the moment we are not in a position to do that, but we have grants etc. in the works that could get us there. In the meantime, Russ put his own name forth as a possible Publicist. Rance moved to accept his offer, Phil seconded, ayes unanimous.
Upcoming/New Business
T-Shirts
Frank is trying to find a T-shirt, because someone has offered a $100 donation if we will ship one to them.
Grants
Rance has written up a notice of intent for the BAAC’s Arts Project Support. We can ask for a maximum of $3500 and we must match what we are asking for. With the posters as described above we have about $1700. It has been suggested that we should emphasize reaching under-served audiences (including Owen County). Russ is collecting the necessary information and needs to know office, terms of service, community position, and physical mailing address for all Board members. He also needs copies of the financial statement, which is contained in the Annual Minutes.
Pericles
Janice is looking for people to help her with Pericles. She thinks she will need three people to do what Jim did for Sleeping Beauty.
Meeting Adjourned
Tim moves to close the meeting, Russ seconds, ayes unanimous.
