First order of business was election of officers for 2008

Office of President: Susan nominated Frank, Ben seconded
Office of Vice President: Phil nominated Rance, Ben seconded
Office of Treasurer: Rance nominated Susan, Phil seconded
Office of Secretary: Susan nominated Phil, Rance seconded

After the nominations were closed and unanimous voting for all nominees concluded, the minutes were forcibly placed into Phil’s hands.

The minutes for January’s meeting were read by the members. Ben moved to approve the minutes, and after several people seconded, the minutes were approved unanimously.

The treasurer’s report was also examined. Rance moved to approve the report, which was seconded by Russ. Unanimous approval followed.

DIRECTOR’S SYMPOSIUM XIII

The auditions for the Director’s Symposium were being held the same time as the Board Meeting. Another night was planned for Wednesday night. Turn out for the auditions was good

(There was some confusion from the secretary’s point of view on what was said about the Director’s Symposium. I do apologize for the inconvenience.)

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK: THE FALL EDITION

Bloomington Parks & Rec wanted to know what our second Shakespeare in the Park production would be. Several plays were thrown around for discussion. Ben had an informal proposal for “Two Gentlemen of Verona”, although he was not interested in directing, he did have some ideas about the production that he would be more than happy to pass along to the eventual director. Russ mentioned that Andy Alphonse would be interested in directing “Othello”, but it was commented that we had just done that in 2002. Other possible plays mentioned were the never done by us “Love’s Labour's Lost” and “All’s Well That Ends Well”. Several members said that a comedy in the fall would work better than a tragedy or a history, and Parks & Rec seemed to be in agreement with that. After several minutes of lively discussion, Rance moved to accept Ben “informal” proposal for “Two Gentlemen of Verona” as our second Shakespeare in the Park show and Russ seconded. Unanimous approval followed.

After arriving late, Sara gave the web report for January. 22,294 hits was, as Sara mentioned, “high-end” average for the web site.

PUBLICITY

After deciding at the January meeting that the post of Publicity and Fundraising be split into two separate positions, the search continues for a person to do our publicity. There was an intern “fair” either being planned or it already happened for Not-for-Profits.

Everyone was agreed that this sounded like a good idea. Russ suggested we try SPEA for an intern, and Rance said he would post our needs on several boards online. Hopefully, if we find someone, they would be interested in a year-round position.

CULTURE WEEK

Frank was approached by Culture Week about including us in an article. Frank sent them an interview about the organization that included the points of: who we are, how we’re different from other theater organizations in Bloomington and where we’re going in the future.

TAXES

Susan asked some questions about our taxes and the Not-for-Profit status and some W-2’s she had. Several people said there shouldn’t be any problem with that.

JWAC PERFORMANCE SERIES

It was mentioned that the Performance Series may not continue.

THE TEMPEST

Ben had no updates on the 1st Shakespeare show this month.

There was also some talk on possible dates for a spring cleaning/inventory of both trailers

Rance moved to close the meeting, Susan seconded. Approved unanimously.
